October 30, 2006 at 4:23 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentSaturday nite in Santa Fe, just before the Halloween bandits came out. Having meet one of Bill’s Santa Fe homey’s Noah, we decided to make the most of a chance encounter in the Design shop with a gal named Trippy. We were told a location up in the Santa Fe hills not to far from the Napcoma Valley where there were some ladies playing make-up and there would be some costumes available. Upon our arrival a the house we discovered that the gals were quiet serious about getting every detail just right, I mean even the furry dog was getting leopard spots. We had a Vampire,Amazon Woman,GoGo Dancer,Strawberry Shortcake and Miss Caqita Banana. It only took about 8 attempts at getting the fruit placed correctly upon Caquita’s head to make it stay. Our costumes were not exaclty ready and layed out. Some blue facepaint gave way to an idea to both go as Blue Man Group. Half way through the painting Miss Dakota aka Vamp decided that Noah had to also be a Vamp. At this point we concluded that the Vamplady was a bit bossy. The gals thought my Blue Man Group costume was not enough so I was given a hula shirt and bikini top to become a Blula Dancer who was posed to dance to rhythmic drumming and chanting. Noah had been turned into a cheeky lookin Vamp with Marlyn Manson details. After two and a half hours the gals were ready to go. The house party proved to be entertaining with Dr.Pepper on tap and plenty of eats for Mr.Tom to get acquainted with. A few needed an explanation as to what a Blula Dancer was.

Today’s outting with Bill and Cindy included a roadtrip with a bit of a twist, leaving New Mexico and coming back before we had even reached the greatness of the Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.Turns out route 17 is a bit tricky, but we got to see some extra snowy hills and valley’s. After we re-entered Colorado we found the nearest Arby’s to gorge ourselves in some sandwichs and for yours truely a first-time French Dip combo. Not too bad, it did the job of clogging an artery and keeping my stomach busy for a couple of hours. As we approached the Great Dunes we noticed they were a bit flakey looking, it couldn’t of been any of the almost 2 feet of snow Denver received the nite before I thought to myself. Indeed, the Great Sand Dunes were now a paradise for the snowbunnies of winter. Bill had his bit of tomfoolery convincing Cindy that the park was closed due to massive snowfall and that the only people up on the Dunes were Rangers walking in pairs. We headed out into the 33 square miles of snowy hills, it seemes sort of a mix of whipped cream with hershey syrup underneath. Finding a disc after any huck was a bit tricky, but lucky enough the disc created a crater in the snow. After a solid two hours of play in the dunes we stamped ourselves off and headed for a relaxation session at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. The steam room & sauna combo resulting in a cleansing deep to the bones.
