Aloha Hawai’i da Big Island happening!
February 26, 2007 at 5:44 am | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentLess people on the Big Island, who would of thought. Located on the Northeastern side of the island was Jill’s parents lovely 50 acre farm/ranch style getaway. Greeted by a massive amount of dogs, I believe 6 or 7 in total Diana(Jill’s mother) quickly guided us around before the evening sky rose from the sea. A hearty chilly with all the fixin’s was presented and our posse managed to make good work of it, having had only small packets of salty nuts since our departure from Honolulu, Oahu. Stories were traded of the past days events on the lesser Island. The windy storm conditions at the Kaimana KlassikXX beach camping had everyone longing for a quiet nite under the sheets. Jill found out she’d have to work extra early that morning as the rest of the gang planned to sleep in and enjoy the ranch atmosphere.
to be continued…
Being first up that next day, I made my way around the estate, being greeted quite nicely by the chicken’s who I presume thought I was feeding them. I never did figure out why Cindy da cat didn’t chase them around. Breakfast was slowly eaten by the crew, as we planned our days outing with the idea of meeting Jill later in the afternoon for some sort of adventure. We took off to the nearest big little village and found an array of silly hawai’i shirts and postcards. I’m usually pretty on the money with sending postcards but something told me this time just stop that the madness and enjoy the experience. The girls wanted snacks for the roadtrip up north so the local TKS was raided and surprisingly I found a bit of aloha spirit in a six-pack of passion juice cans.
Nhara Moku gets friendly at the Kaimana Klassik XX
February 26, 2007 at 5:20 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentThe Parties at Kaimana were super excellent, from the first nite’s Drum Presentation to the Hawai’ian Country with Hula dancers on the second nite the action was packed. On the last evening the Ice Luge was a big crowd pleaser. Two massive blocks of Hawai’i 50 ice, were carved into and dual luge runs were created. Two willing parties had to choose a shot-drink and plant there mouth at the end of the track to enjoy the ultra-chilly treat as it made it’s way into the victory mouth. So in so many words, there was plenty of ice sucking and multiple shot luge specials. I hung out behind the blocks with a guy named Mike(saw him at worlds,he was definelty on a Mixed team and they did well) and we spoke of how such an operation could really get outta hand if the right individuals were running the show. At that moment, the local luge operator admitted to a bit of tricky action, she had given her friend a double shot without saying so, right on I thought to myself. Mike invited me to a game of Goaltimate the next day. A sort of half court basketball with a disc and a massive half circle goal.
The Weekly Sydney Update (Feb. 6th,2007)
February 5, 2007 at 9:21 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentJust a recap of events past so I don’t lose sight of things. January in Sydney was a quick afterburner after the New Year’s celebrations. We managed to go to CRACKERS a pyrotechnics show which was part of the greater Sydney Festival. Located at Olympic Part the setting was one of high excitement, largely do to the warnings of high noise volume and firework debris which would be presented to the masses. Children under 12 were advised to stay home and suck on their thumbs. The crowds were entertained with bang-snaps and party poppers as we waited for the darkness to engulf the surrounding area. The show was pretty excellent and loud, a cross between a battle zone with extra colors added in by Bob Ross and a touch of humor and sillyness.![]()
Other things have included the getting the classic Bondi Burn, an ideal sydney tan of sorts were you rub sunscreen on but stay in the sun longer than the allowed time and still receive a lobster dinner free of charge.
Now for the ultimate news: 4weeks of Barefoot trainings have elapsed and the team is shaping up nicely. Each week 1or2 addtitions to the team allow for expansion and progression. Our first track session last week proved truely exhausting, maybe it was just the 7min board session at the end that go me, thanxs Ed.Wednesdays evenings are still spent at Coogee playing some beach ultimate with the locals and uni students from NSW uni. The dip in the sea aftewards is always rewarding rain or shine. This saturday we have our first Barefoot bonding session with some beach ulti at Maroubra Beach with a city party session that nite.Should be smokin’.
